Following the rise of NFT art, Tonic.xyz seeks to create a community for curated digitally-native art that bridges the digital and physical. Their mission is to empower a new generation of artists and collectors through a connected market experience. They came to Sumner looking to up-level their digital presence and build a robust commerce and editorial platform experience.

The Challenge
Balance the worlds of high-art, blockchain technology, and e-commerce in order to generate both provenance and revenue.

Embedding directly with Tonic’s founder and their Head of Product, we set out to define the updated look and feel of the Tonic brand and how that would come to life across the web experience. We established core pillars that would drive our thinking: honor the artist, showcase their work, and utilize the refined aesthetic to make the complex world of NFTs and digital art accessible.

Unique to Tonic is the ability to not only exclusively own a singular piece of digital art but also print an exclusive copy of that owned artwork. The Tonic team worked with leaders in the world of museum-grade, archival prints to provide ‘physicals’ for artwork owners. To meet that offering, we created an interface and conversion flow that facilitated physical prints and all of the options available to customers.

With a nod to favorite art publications and quarterlies, we developed Tonic’s editorial vertical as our means of spotlighting the talented artists and their works, past and present. The journal became our way of closing the loop between the art and commerce of Tonic by blending our long-form content with the artist and their series of available art on the Tonic platform.
